Judith James' Success Story: A Locomotivation Business Administrator Apprenticeship Journey 24 April 2023 Introduction: Transforming Skills and Confidence Judith James, a dedicated and hard-working apprentice, recently completed her 15-month Business Administrator Apprenticeship with Locomotivation. As an older apprentice, returning to work after a long a break from the workforce, Judith found the programme to be the perfect opportunity to update her skills. Throughout this case study, we will explore Judith's experiences, highlighting her accomplishments, the support she received, and the impact of her apprenticeship on her career. An Engaging Learning Experience From the very beginning, Judith was impressed with the support and guidance provided by her Training Specialist, Claire Kefford, and her line manager, Lisa Stratton. Both mentors played a significant role in helping Judith develop her knowledge of best working practices, improve her technology skills, and build her confidence. Mastering Essential Skills During her apprenticeship, Judith mastered essential competencies such as organisation, remote communication, and time management. Overcoming her initial reluctance towards Zoom and Teams meetings, Judith now uses these tools regularly in her professional life. Learning through Real-World Projects One of the key projects Judith worked on during her apprenticeship involved creating a training programme for new staff members and coaching them on a specific software application. This project allowed her to apply her newly acquired skills in a real-world setting, further enhancing her confidence and abilities. Advice for Aspiring Apprentices Judith's advice for anyone considering an apprenticeship is simple: "It is definitely worth doing – the best advice I can give would be to not be afraid to ask questions at each stage." She believes that continuous support, curiosity, and determination are key ingredients for success in such programmes. A Bright Future Ahead Since completing her apprenticeship, Judith's career has progressed rapidly. She has taken on new roles and responsibilities, and her long-term goals include continuing to grow and develop her skills. Judith is committed to embracing new challenges and opportunities as they arise. Praise from the Line Manager Lisa Stratton, Senior Administrator and Judith's Line Manager, had this to say about her progress: "Since Judith started her apprenticeship, I have seen growth in her knowledge and confidence. She has progressed in her role showing great use of organisation and initiative. By expanding her skills, she has become a real asset to our admin department." A Highly Recommended Experience In conclusion, Judith's experience with Locomotivation was extremely positive. She gained valuable skills, confidence, and even a pay rise. She highly recommends Locomotivation as a training provider that genuinely cares about the welfare of their apprentices.
