Coronavirus Business Update

Our Message

As a result of the current public health crisis concerning Coronavirus COVID-19 we are all facing an extremely difficult and worrying time. We want to reassure you that we are still working to support and engage with our apprentices and employers - whatever the situation.

If you are an apprentice with us

You may find yourself temporarily prevented from working through illness, self-isolation or quarantine; facing a redundancy situation or working from home. Whatever your current situation, Locomotivation will continue to support you with your apprenticeship training throughout this crisis.

All apprentices are employees of the businesses they work for. Any questions you have regarding your employment contract, self isolation, or if you are feeling unwell should be directed towards your employer.

Your apprenticeship Training Specialist will have already contacted you to discuss exactly how your training will continue remotely. If you have any further questions at this time, please contact them directly.

If for any reason you cannot make contact with your Training Specialist, then please email support@locomotivation.co.uk.

If you are an Employer with us

With so much to consider, your apprenticeship programme may not be at the top of the list, but please be assured, it remains at the top of ours.

Like many organisations, we have made changes to prioritise the health and safety of staff, employers and apprentices. All of our employees are now working remotely and all face to face meetings and assessments have been cancelled.

Using our online learning systems, our dedicated staff remain one hundred percent committed to supporting all of your apprentices to remain engaged in their programmes, whether they are temporarily prevented from working or working from home.

Apprentices can be furloughed and may continue to undertake learning towards their apprenticeship. However, you must pay your apprentices at least the Apprenticeship Minimum Wage, National Living Wage or National Minimum Wage (AMW/NLW/NMW) as appropriate for all the time they spend training. This means you must cover any shortfall between the amount you can claim for their wages through this scheme and their appropriate minimum wage.

Official government guidance on furloughing apprentices can be found here.

Please contact us on our freephone number below if you have any questions or concerns you wish to discuss.

New apprentices and apprenticeships

We understand that although many businesses are experiencing a period of downturn due to the public health crisis, we do understand that there are also businesses that will be experiencing a higher period of business activity that may require additional staffing resources.

We are still here to help businesses employ and train new apprentices if the need should arise. Please call the freephone number below or press the Contact Us button to make contact to see if we can help.
